In Lab 4 we used filtration as a separation technique. We started with Copper Sulfate as crystals and added water to get it to dissolve. Then we filtered the mixture to separate out some of the Copper Sulfate. We also did this with Zinc Oxide. The Zinc Oxide created a milky solution that became clear after passing through the funnel. The residue of the Zinc Oxide that was left on the filter paper was a white solid. The final mixture to separate was the rock salt. The goal was to get the pure salt out of the rock salt mixture using the separation technique of filtration. The first video shows this process and the second video shows the residues left by the Copper Sulfate and the rock salt.
